Our Story
Qbit was established in Florence in 1999 to respond to the technological requests of small and medium-sized local companies in the field of optics and optoelectronics. Florence and its area have always offered good opportunities in this sector, thanks to the University and numerous research centres, but also thanks to the presence of long-established industries such as Officine Galileo (now part of Leonardo SpA) from which it comes a great wealth of knowledge.

Our Mission
Today Qbit develops and produces instrumentation for environmental measurement, exploiting various technologies, such as infrared light spectroscopy and laser light diffusion. This instrumentation is successfully used in monitoring the concentration of particulate matter or in the search and measurement of traces of gas. In particular, devices are available for the detection of leaks of refrigerant gases (HCFC, CFC, hydrocarbons) or insulating gases (SF6-Novec) used in high voltage electrical equipment, for environmental monitoring (carbon dioxide, methane in landfills of waste, ammonia in animal husbandry) or for the detection of dangerous gases (such as formaldehyde).
By carrying out this activity we also intend to contribute to the progressive reduction of the effects of human activity on the atmosphere. Activity that resulted in the increase of the greenhouse effect (due to greenhouse gases such as CH4, CO2, SF6…) or the reduction of the ozone layer in the stratosphere (due to the uncontrolled release of CFCs / HCFCs).
